A horrifying attack which saw a shopkeeper stabbed multiple times and had his turban pulled off was caught on CCTV.

The footage has been released as the thugs are yet to be identified several months on from the attack.

The video shows a pair of hooded men approaching the victim who was working on his own in an off licence.

One of the men then shouts at him to “open the till”.

The attack took place at the shop in High Street, Whitton, Richmond, just after 10pm on Saturday December 23 last year.

The second suspect remained in front of the counter and pulled off the victim’s turban during the struggle, before the injured shopkeeper fell to the floor.

Police officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a man, aged in his 40s, suffering from stab wounds. He has since been discharged and is recovering from his injuries.

Detective Constable Mike Deans, investigating officer from Kingston and Richmond CID, said: “This was a vicious attack on a man who was simply just doing his job at his place of work, a place where he should feel safe. The attack has understandably left the victim extremely distressed.

Describing the incident as a “heinous crime”, DC Deans added: “I would appeal to anyone who recognises the two men in the CCTV to contact police as a matter of urgency.”

Both suspects ran off empty-handed in the direction of Percy Road.
