Thaiday considering options as Broncos tell stalwart he’s not staying
Broncos forward Sam Thaiday says he could consider playing for another club, amid revelations he will not be offered a new contract in Brisbane.
The 32-year-old has been told he will not remain at the club beyond 2018.
“There’s 15 other clubs out there so who knows what will happen,” Thaiday said.
“Funnier things have happened in rugby league.
“I’ll have to sit back and assess and see how the body is feeling.
“It’s more a discussion I’ll have with my family now and we’ll make a decision going forward.”
Thaiday made his debut for the Broncos in 2003 and he is not sure if he is ready to contemplate retirement.
“It’s hard asking a footballer that question because at the end of the day none of us want to stop playing the game that we love so it’s a very, very tough decision that has to be made and it’s a not decision I’m making now or making lightly,” he said.
“I’ve two young girls now I need to look after and provide for for the rest of my life.
“It’s something that I’ll assess come this time next year.”
The news comes just weeks after Thaiday was axed from the Queensland State of Origin team after 29 games.
