Moped gang smash London woman to steal her gold necklace

Shocking CCTV footage shows the moment a woman is slammed to the ground as a moped gang tries to rob her gold necklace in front of other motorists.

The 52-year-old woman was standing outside a Hindu temple in Lewisham, south London when she was attacked by a man wearing a crash helmet.

He grabs her £600 gold necklace and tries to violently pull it from her neck, but she puts up a fight.

As the pair struggle, two other gang members act as lookouts, before the woman is finally flung to the ground and the attacker jumps on the back of one of the waiting mopeds.

Metropolitan Police are now appealing for information following the attack at about 4.40pm on June 20, in Clarenden Rise, Lewisham.

Detective Constable Alexander Hamilton, from Lewisham CID, said: ‘We are urgently seeking any information regarding this nasty crime, which has left the victim shaken from her ordeal.

‘Please come forward if you know anything, witnessed anything, or you know who the men in the CCTV images are.’

The first suspect was described as wearing a black crash helmet, white shirt, a dark blue jacket with grey trousers and black shoes.

The second was wearing a black crash helmet, blue shoes and a grey tracksuit with white stripes.

Meanwhile, the third suspect was also wearing a black crash helmet, a grey hooded top, dark trousers and white trainers.
