Teens body who went missing on dog walk found in landfill

The body of a Texas teen who vanished Monday while walking her dog has been found, police said.

Kaytlynn Cargill’s body was discovered Wednesday by a worker at a landfill in Arlington, Texas, news station WFAA reported. Her cause of death has not been released.

The 14-year-old was reported missing Monday night after she didn’t return from taking her dog for a walk near her home.

Her mom, Trisha West, told the Dallas Morning News that while searching for her daughter, she found the pet tied to a fence at a nearby dog park.

“I went out looking for her after she didn’t come back for like 30 minutes,” West said.

Police didn’t issue an Amber Alert at first because they were investigating Kaytlynn’s disappearance as a runaway case, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Bedford police asked anyone with information about her death to contact the department.

“We will pursue every lead, leave no stone unturned and bring the person or persons responsible for Kaytlynn’s death to justice,” Bedford police Lt. Kirk Roberts told WFAA.
