Every pie has to be the right weight, finish and colour so that they pass M&S's strict guidelines.

The actual recipe for the retail giant's pies is a closely guarded secret and only 10 people are allowed access to the whole recipe.

But we do know that they are cooked at 200 degrees Celsius for nine-and-a-half minutes, with each pie taking 45 minutes to make from start to finish.
