  • She took it off before her boxing lesson, and thought she put it in her pocket
  • But the ring was not there and despite search efforts, could not be found
  • It was not until four years later that a tradie spotted the ring during renovations
  • It was buried beneath 12 years of dust under the lockers in the change room

When Sarah Gloury received a phone call from her gym, she assumed they were looking to renew her membership.

Instead they told her the incredible news that four years after she lost her engagement ring during a boxing session at the gym, her diamond sparkler been found.

An eagle-eyed tradie spotted the ring under 12 years worth of dust in the locker room, and after resigning herself to the fact she would never find it, Mrs Gloury was reunited with her $6,500 diamond.

'When they called, my initial response was to think they wanted me to sign up for a new membership, which wasn’t going to happen because I’m five months pregnant with twins,' Mrs Gloury said.

'But Danielle [the gym manager] was super excited and told me they’d been trying to track me down for a month, which because my name had changed, had been tough.

'When she asked me to describe my engagement ring, I started to shake.

'The next day I went into the gym, and there it was. I couldn’t believe it.'

Danielle, of Fernwood Bendigo gym in Victoria, told Mrs Gloury the ring had been found under the lockers, which hadn’t been replaced in 12 years.

The ring first went missing six months before the 35-year-old was set to the tie the knot to her now husband Brad, 34.

Mrs Gloury took the ring off to fit on her boxing gloves and thought she placed it in the zip pocket of her pants.

But when she went to put it back on, it wasn't there.

Gym staff turned the gym upside down to look for the ring, to no avail.

Understandably, Mrs Goury was devastated.

Mr Goury had proposed to her after 11 years together, after saving for years to pay for a ring.

'I felt sick when I realised it was gone, and I could tell from the look on Brad’s face he was devastated too,' she said.

'The proposal really surprised me because we’d been together for so long.

'When Brad got down on one knee at home in front of the kids, I was speechless. Especially when I saw the ring.

'We didn’t have a lot of money at the time. Brad was a builder and I was looking after the kids. So it meant the world he’d gone to such efforts to give me something so beautiful.

'I vowed never to take it off and only did once – the day I lost it.'

'To have my ring back after all this time, and knowing how much it means to me, it’s like a dream come true,' she said

With a wedding to pay for the couple were not able to afford a new engagement ring and wedding bands, so Mr Gloury kindly brought his wife a replacement.

And while the ring was beautiful, it simply 'wasn't the same'.

'At the wedding, we had to have a blessing with ribbons, as we had no rings to exchange. It was really upsetting,' Mrs Gloury said.

'To have my ring back after all this time, and knowing how much it means to me, it’s like a dream come true.

'It’s now proudly back on my finger where it belongs.'
